"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam.
And for a brief moment, its glory and beauty
belong to our world.
But then it flies on again,
and though we wish it could have stayed,
we feel so lucky to have seen it."

Why Butterflies?
Besides their inherent beauty, butterflies are an indicator species for how the environment is faring as a whole. Lepidoptera research is a vital area to the study of ailing ecosystems. Where native habitats are destroyed, native species are also destroyed. Butterflies tell us about the health of our environment.
The Butterfly House at Wild-Connections began as a mere hole in the ground...twenty-two holes 3-feet-deep in solid limestone that is! Because of the hard work and determination of four people, our beautiful 2,000 sq.ft. enclosed butterfly habitat can now be enjoyed by everyone in Central Texas.
The Butterfly House is fully enclosed and is home to many butterfly and plant species that are native to Texas. A complete ecosystem has been established by providing both nectar and larval plants for the butterflies.
The Butterfly House is open to the public as a self-guided tour. Groups of 15 or more may schedule an educational tour.
The Butterfly House is open Tuesday-Friday
10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and
(see Hours/Admission)
All school groups or other large groups must schedule in advance.
