Butterflies, Butterflies, Butterflies!

What to Expect…
A visit to Wild-Connections is an exciting learning experience for children of all ages! Preschoolers will delight in feeding the butterflies and exploring nature on a self-guided tour. Click here for more information.

NEW PROGRAM!
Elementary
-aged children will examine the lives of butterflies and the environment through a lifecycle film, a visit to the butterfly house, and a nature scavenger hunt. Click here for a more information.

We encourage groups to spend as much time as they wish in our 2,000 square foot flight house. As you meander down the pathway, you will be surrounded by plants that are native to this region of Texas as well as many species of butterflies. Both larvae and nectar plants are there to complete the ecosystem for our beautiful winged ambassadors of the insect world.

Don't forget to look for our other residents of the butterfly house that include fish, frogs, tadpoles, caterpillars, and button quail.

Tour visitors are encouraged to take a piece of fruit from the fruit bowl at the entrance to "feed" the butterflies.
Butterflies enjoy nectaring from fruit, and this is an excellent way to ensure a very close encounter with our winged friends!

Other Educational Opportunities…
Groups and individuals may also take the opportunity to hike our trail system and experience the flora and fauna of the Texas Hill Country. With the aid of our Nature Scavenger Hunt, your group is sure to experience the outdoors like never before!

Our gardens provide an opportunity to see some of the finest examples of Texas natives at work. You'll see all sorts of critters enjoying the flowers and water features. These gardens also serve as great examples of how easily a butterfly garden can be planted at your school or home.

Picnicking
Groups or individuals are welcome to use our shaded picnic area.
