We've changed our program beginning this fall to
provide a more interactive and meaningful experience for your students.
Please read on for all the details!
EVERYTHING
YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIELD TRIP:
1.
Upon arrival, EVERY teacher must check in at the gift shop to receive
his/her classroom kit and confirm your tour time. Classroom kits will
contain teacher wristband, student booklets, pencils, & teacher instructions/rules.
2. Payment is due upon arrival. Please bring one school check or credit
card to make payment for the entire group. Parents may pay separately.
EVERY adult will receive a wristband upon paying their admission that
must be worn while on the farm.
3. Our new student booklets are designed to engage your students in an
active learning process throughout their visit to the farm. Students will
use this new educational tool to focus their attentions during the nature
hike, butterfly lifecycle film, and tour of the butterfly house. (pencils
will be provided)
4. Group tours are scheduled to begin promptly on the half hour
beginning at 10:00 A.M. Two classes will be assigned to each time
slot.
5.
The guided portion of the tour includes a butterfly lifecycle film and
a visit to the butterfly house. The approximate total time for the guided
portion of the tour is one hour.
PLEASE NOTE!!
Your class must be lined up and ready to enter the educational
room in the blue farm house 10 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time.
Failure to do so may result in losing your tour slot.
6. Wild-Connections will no longer be assigning itineraries...rather,
we are leaving this up to the individual teachers. Other than your
scheduled tour time, (remember to allow approximately one hour for this)
your time will be spent as each teacher determines the best need for his/her
classroom.
The following is a list of available activities and the suggested time
allowed for each. Each teacher should build his/her classroom schedule
to fit the needs of their students.
Nature hike and scavenger hunt - 45 minutes
Picnic lunch - 30 minutes
Outdoor classroom (allow students to complete their workbooks) - 20-30
minutes
Wild Stuff Gift Shop - 15-20 minutes
