Butterfly
Watching
The Butterfly House features 2,000 square feet of Texas native butterflies
and
plants. Other creatures that make their home in the butterfly house include
fish, tadpoles, frogs, and caterpillars.
Hiking
Take a stroll along one of our trails to discover the sights
and sounds of the Texas Hill Country. Check out one
of our Naturalist Packs to aid with your explorations (available in our gift shop.) or dare to complete our
Nature Scavenger Hunt!

Picnicking
Bring along your picnic basket and enjoy a leisurely meal or snack at
our picnic grounds. Drinks and snacks are also available in our gift shop.
Visit the Education Center
Discover how hungry caterpillars turn into beautiful
butterflies or exaime feathers, fossils, nests, and other wild things at our touch tables.
Enjoy the Gardens
Enjoy strolling about our gardens planted with Texas natives and adaptives. If you are new to Central Texas, you may be surprised by the number of beautiful plants available to us.
Not
only do we have a wide variety of plants to enjoy, but we have an extremely
long gardening season...often March through November or longer! Pay particular
attention to the number of butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and other
creatures that visit. Why are there so many critters? There are two primary
reasons…first we grow plants that attract the native animal species.
Secondly, we do not use any chemicals. We are very strict organic gardeners,
and we encourage you to be the same. A healthy environment is good for
every person and every creature.

We have selected fun and unique nature-related items to be enjoyed by shoppers of all ages without the typical gift shop prices. All purchases help make our educational programs available to children throughout Central Texas.
